Thank you! I actually sourced that butterscotch fossil mammoth ivory and supplied it to the maker. A big part of my attraction to custom knives is the beautiful contract between natural handle materials and the fine steel.

I prefer the scissor operation on Wenger over Victorinox.

I have a bunch of EDC type folders. I wouldn't say I'm a collector though just cycled through a bunch until I found one that stuck. A Benchmade 470-1 was my previous EDC until I finally broke down and bought a Chris Reeve Small Sebenza 21. Don't really look at the other ones anymore.

Not the least interested in knives from a collectors view but I do love and have need for a good tool. As I am out and about in the woods and in the archipelago, harvesting what goodies there are (game, fish, mushrooms, oysters, silence, etc) a quality knife is essential. I go for rugged, multi purpose bushcraft knives. Scandinavian "Scandi" cut/grind blade with a strong spine (to be able to whack it hard if needing to split something) and yet subtle and realtively small to be able to do some finer work also. Here in Scandinavia we have long tradition in making and using this kind of knife and I am faithful to the tradition - in using them.

As I have a couple of different environments I go to I use two knifes.

    This is my forrest knife:
Casström Swedish forrest knife no 10, Sandvik 14C28N

    Sea and archipelago knife:

An old ad for the Nordic line:

And of course you always need to carry a Leatherman tool when alone on an island.

Made my own "artsy" small blade during one weekend of knife smith course.

In short - I am not into knifes. But I could not live without.

I don't collect knives but I have an interesting knife. A KA-BAR Combat knife that was my Fathers during WW II. He was a Crew Chief on a C-47 (later known as a DC-3 after the war). My Dad dropped paratroopers all over Europe, including France during D-Day, North Africa and Germany. He carried this knife with him for his entire tour of duty. The knife is a Carbon steel clip point blade with a leather washer handle. My Dad gave this to me when I was a teenager and since he passed away it has been a great memento to remember him by. Anyway some pictures...

It's still very sharp as I just found out, ouch!

And before the war too, I'm pretty sure it's first commercial use was in 1936.

Since then have owned quite a few different knives ranging from some nice Blackjacks by Mike Stewart, the usual Swiss Army knives, a bunch of Nepalese Khukuris and the usual Spydercos. Currently carry the "Rescue" model. Much more of a hoarder of knives and stuff than a "collector". I suppose I should not be lazy and get some pics going.

Oh and incidentally have made quite a few jumps from the venerable C-47 mentioned above many of them survivors from WWII.

My dad served in the U.S. Navy in the Pacific during World War II. He still has his Mark I knife after all these years. I can't believe I've gone blank on the maker though, Camillus I think.

A family friend is deep into U. S. military knife collecting. Our youngest son was in the Marine Corps, has been out just a year now. He served two deployments in Afghanistan as a machinegunner. The knife collecting friend gave him a spare World War II USCM Ka-Bar which my son carried while on deployment.

Not a collector, but I do like knives so I do a little "collecting" here and there (case knives etc.). I always keep one of two close for fishing, camping, boating, snorkeling, or whatever. I don't enter the water without one. Usually find myself cleaning up fishing line or something. Anyway, I like vintage dive knives too. They remind me of thunderball or Jacques Cousteau. I have a couple 70's scubapros. Love the weight look etc.

And this little Italian beauty is pure Americana. Lol. Found it to be very interesting. I had never seen a switchblade before. Do I have to join a gang now? I hope not, as I have a lot of other commitments at the moment..

"On the Way to Going Broke" I was able to buy Case Stag handle knives at dealer wholesale. I additionally added more from Bruce. When I went broke I sold Bruce almost 100 NIB Stag handle knives. He's very honest and straight forward. Check out his latest auction.
