Just found my old collection - pretty cool! Links to pictures below: https://imgur.com/gallery/8ag6g https://imgur.com/gallery/Y4d3v
I have quite a few. Many uncirculated First day covers and misc other stuff. Most, if not all, from my dad, uncles, friends, grand parents. Most came to me as a smaller child. I would like to get back into it but somehow the task seems over powering. Have fun Karl
When I was a kid, these 3 Zeppelin stamps were the grail. Dad and I collected stamps together, then he kept on and now I’ve picked it back up. Here are a few from the earliest stamps from 1861-62.
I have some nice older stamps including quite a few from my father's collection but it has been years since I did anything with them.
First Flight of the Graf Zeppelin & first round the world flight. The massive Mint Plate block collection I have is disappointing nothing issued after 1948 has any value.I'm putting them on bills .
Hi Used to collect USA stamps with my dad in the 1974 to about 1983.... Then I went off to university. We loved the early Air mail stamps and we always wanted to get the GRAF ZEP stamps but never did. We spent hours going to the local stamp shows once a month .... we really built up a collection..... But later after I graduated university moved to the "city" and started working ... my parents started to travel a lot. While away my parents home was broken into ... they spent hours there took all my moms China, royal doulyon figuriens etc .... she had cases of them. They worked there way to the kids room. They found everything I had and I came to the house when police called me to find it all gone... I was more then shocked, I went numb. I stopped collecting anything. Till one day many years later at a D.C. FLEA-MARKET I came across a Seamaster 3oo later found out it was a 2913. Bill
Break-ins are terrible, I can understand the feeling. It's more than just the stealing, it's that feeling of invasion, too. And more. Good thing you came across that Seamaster I used to collect stamps (actually continued my dad's collection) and still have a sizable collection, but can't post a photo now as I'm in a different country! Will see if I can get to it soon.
Taddyangle has the 1st USPS stamp recognition from 1967-68 (5 cent, “space accomplishments”) of the space program above in the 2nd picture of stamps. Below is the 2nd recognition by USPS from 1971 (8 cent, “Decade of American Space Achievements”) with my Speedmaster FOIS. Taddyangle also shared the 3rd space recognition from 1975 of the 10 cent “Apollo Soyuz Space Test Project”
