Just bought my first watch there from a private seller using the trusted checkout system.
They had a good description an lots of great photos of the watch on there, so I felt confident ordering.
The watch came in just as described. Overall as pleasant a process as it can be buying from the internet.

As always buy the seller / buyer beware - I have used it and found it a good platform (buying only) the team at Chrono 24 were also very good / quick to reply and help when a seller went radio silent on me. The fact they hold the money for a while before the vendor gets paid is a good feature and protects all parties. I would use them again for sure.

Have used it several times. Found it very safe when buying from pro's and with trusted checkout. Refund worked also effortlessly.

Solid 5/7 would recommend

Had to go back and count. Nine watches, all from dealers, in completed transactions, as well as a dozen other failed attempts. No really bad experiences and I’ve picked up a few nice pieces.

I’ve had some pleasant surprises and some not so pleasant ones. Have never been burned, but sometimes kicked myself for not asking more questions or for more photos. While escrow is nice, you still better know what you’re doing, as there’s a ton of ‘compromised’ pieces being listed, frequently with no explicit acknowledgment.

Best find, with original matching bracelet and hangtag

This came with original papers:

And, then there’s this notorious pair, one from Italy, one from Germany:

All C24. At a minimum, it’s an interesting place to study the market. A shame they don’t publicly list sold watches and what they went for.

I've bought a few from Chrono24; all but one were from dealers. I'm less comfortable buying from private sellers no matter what platform they are on. However, I've never had an issue with purchases facilitated via Chrono24. I love where I live, but my watch shopping options, without spending a day in the car, are rather limited. Online I can get anything, so it's a tradeoff I make.

Did you guys buy only from seller from your country or do you buy from overseas sellers as well on Chrono24? If you bought from overseas seller, how does shipping work?

I’m in the middle of returning my first C24 purchase from a private seller because I have some movement concerns. So far it seems pretty straightforward, but I know you do lose some protections with a private seller. I never authorized payment, so hoping the return proceeds slowly. Keeping my fingers crossed.

from my own country. total shipping was sort of slow due to communication back and forth despite seller is willing to ship overnight and it does not work out that way, probably because to protect both buyer and sellers. still, the communication between the seller and buyer is the key thing on c24, in order to succeed the transaction i guess.

i would add there was a successful transaction (private seller) and two failed attempts (dealers). the failure was the communication only, initial message either not conveyed to the seller or did not get their attention for some reason that i don't know.

Had an international sale from a private seller in Norway. I’m in the US. As others have said communication is key. Some screenshots from that purchase to give you an idea:

I have bought off c24 a number of times. like others have said, had a very positive experience with escrow.

I'm not sure what the process is if you actually get scammed by someone via c24 seller - that would probably be the risks (but no platform can really help with that if you buy from private sellers).

That being said, I've had some positive experiences purchasing from private sellers off c24

I bought and sold few pieces already. Highly recommended portal. Very safe because of the escrow. Most of the time you can negotiate with the seller for a better price, which is great.

Sounds like it's a trusted platform. I just bought a Spectre Seamaster on there from a UK seller. Fingers crossed.

I have bought four watches via chrono24. A Meistersinger that had fogging issues and the seller claimed he knew nothing of it. (I sold it to a dealer) The Mühle-Glashütte SAR that is my account picture (dealer on Chrono24 and the transaction was perfect) - a Cartier for my wife from a dealer that was a bit sketchy and my newest purchase, a Seiko Dawn Grey Turtle. (private seller was good but overcharged for shipping-I plan to flip the watch)

Overall, I'd say positive. Escrow is a good service and bit of peace of mind framework for the transaction.

I guess it's just a middle man that connects a seller to a buyer right, so a lot of the 'trustworthiness' or lack there of is kinda out of c24's control. But yeah I think they do a good job of creating a framework that encourages accountability and trust to form.

I have sold many watches on Chrono24 as a private seller and always give the buyer numerous shipping options. Only downside for me as a private seller is that there is no platform for positive or negative reviews for private sellers, no matter how many watches you have sold. I have contacted Chrono24 about this and they say that most private sellers only sell a few watches so no need for reviews.
