I find myself wearing my 105.012-65 (on a 1039 no less) nearly every day. I'm very careful/cognizant of wearing a nice or delicate watch (have been for nearly 30 years!) The few times I travel, or find myself in circumstances where my watch may be in danger of being damaged, I either wear nothing or wear my quartz Luminox.
Does anyone else wear a 321 Speedmaster as their daily watch? Are there concerns? Advice?

I do. It certainly helps that the one that I wear is not in mint condition and has seen some action in its day. I wear it with a strap mostly and put away the 1039 that it came with. Just keep reminding yourself these are tool watches :D

I have a couple and wear them on frequent rotation. Normally not on original bracelets though.

My 321's in daily rotation with my 861, although I'm an engineer so I tend to wear the 861 when I'm on site and the 321 in the office. For me, unless it's something exceptional, watches should be worn. A lot!

Thanks for that ad picture! 1st time I've seen reference to the 1/5th second tick markers. It was bugging me what they were for because I can barely see them. :)

This is my Speedy beater that I wear on a daily basis

    Speedy.jpg

I wear it for several reasons, one being that I like it a lot, and one other because it´s my birth year watch. I like to think of it that I´m equally wellkept as it is! Aged with dignity.... :) :)

Didnt know these speedies were around in the 40's already :p (just kidding). Nice watch, btw.

Even though there's much nicer examples than mine out there, I dont want to make it worse = only wear it on office days.

    Lousy Iphone shot:

Terrible phone image - sorry. Even though a bit of a Franken, missing its bezel and pushers and still on the waiting list for a service/repair with Duncan at Genesis, I love to wear this every day. I'm a psychiatrist and occasionally have to slip the watch into my pocket for safety at work.

I have been wearing my 105.003-65 since the moment I got it. Obviously one needs to be careful and the 1039 is a bit delicate. I think at some point I will swap out the bracelet, not sure yet with what.

Here's a question, then, from someone totally ignorant of Speedys and all these tool watches -

Do any of you actually ever use those pusher thingies and all those funny little dials? And if so, what for?

Enquiring minds want to know ::stirthepot::

    Yes John

I time consultations with mine - very useful - although not as exciting as 11-second rocket burns on a crippled Apollo 13.

I wear my 105.012-66 (only on 1039 bracelet) rarely on occasion as my cal 861 on horween is my daily wearer. When traveling, seamaster po titanium or rolex sub is pressed into service

...and those pusher thingies DO help me time an activity or two...;)

So the vibe I'm getting is:
Vintage Speedmaster as Daily = YES!
...on a 1039 bracelet Daily = SPARE THE WEAR!
I remember the camp was split on wearing the 1039. Bump it to Daily status, and the majority seem to think it isn't suitable for the "abuse" of daily wear. That or it's simply too valuable considering its function and the multitude of satisfactory substitutes.
I prefer a bracelet in summer months (many of those here in California). I'm not sure the later bracelets (read sturdier and not as pricey) look right on a vintage head.
Still thinking whether or not to replace the 1039 as a daily wearer.

If you can't wear it whenever you want (within reason) then what's the point of having it?

Today I'm wearing a 1922 Illinois, its a bitch to get bits to fix it, but what good is it in the display case?

I am sometimes torn between enjoying the heck out of something at the risk of losing it (physically or functionally), versus prolonging the enjoyment by being very careful with it.
    Not unlike life itself...
Live a good clean life in the hope of living long, or party like heck and go out with a bang?
No I'm not comparing watches to life. Watches ARE life!!! ;) just kidding...
So that's the real reason for posting I guess: prolong ownership with care and occasional wear? Or enjoy the heck out of it while it is functional?
By the way, I'm definitely leaning to Daily wear. Just thinking about that bracelet now...

Exactly! Which is why I don't buy anything I won't wear like NOS examples.
