I'm a brand new user and am enjoying reading the posts on this site. I have been looking for information on a watch that my late uncle kindly left to me when he passed away seven years ago. Any information would be gratefully received. Please excuse any spelling errors or bad grammar, it's been a long day.

There was a gold bracelet originally attached although I believe he had this made specifically for him whilst working in the Middle East. He did used to buy gold jewellery there as it was so cheap at the time (so he once told me). He also left the leather strap, although I'm not sure whether it was the original one as supplied with the watch. I have been wearing this Seamaster regularly lately and have become quite attached to it. I believe it was last serviced on 17/12/86 at a Omega Specialist in Plymouth, Devon. The service guarantee cards lists the movement number and case number. I am by no means an expert, just the opposite. I was hoping for some info on the watch. I believe it is a Omega Seamaster Day-Date 751 Chronometer but I'm not entirely sure. There is a very good chance that my Uncle may have originally purchased the watch in either the Middle East or Australia as he worked in the Oman and holidayed with family in Perth, WA, during the late 60's right through to his retirement in 1995. As far as I remember, my uncle did not wear the watch daily and preferred to keep it as a dress watch, there's hardly any signs of wear at all. It keeps good time, gaining only approximately 15 seconds per week. I am thinking about having it serviced at a specialist. If anyone can recommend any in the UK, I'd be much obliged.
Seamaster Web OF.jpg , I'd This photo was taken earlier this evening. It was a bit rushed to excuse the quality. I'm planning to photograph it again when the light is better.

I love the fact that you are asking our forgivenes for this photo! It is excellent. People on this forum have such great photography skills.

It is a stunning watch, a forum favourite in fact. We call it 'the sparkle,' becuse the dial sparkles (original, aren't we). It also has the rarer chronometer certified movement. If it hasn't been worn for a while, DO NOT WEAR OR WIND IT now. As the oils will have dried up, and using it will damage the movement. Have it serviced by a good local watchmaker (there are lots of UK forum members here who can point you in the right direction), and it can keep running for decades more.

Steve, by doing the @[username], does that send a message to that person? CanberraOmega if not, that would be cool if it could do that

ryte time seem to be picking up uk based recommendations - i haven't used them, i recently sent a Connie to al archer in Canada - brilliant service and i suspect cost less than what i might have paid in the uk - I've posted some of the output on another thread.

Strictly speaking I'm in South East England :). Didn't get any personal message though - is that a forum bug ?

Often I use STS the official Omega service centre but they are expensive. I did meet a forum member today who is a watchmaker in London, so I will introduce you by PM if you want to discuss it with him.

Wow, I didn't expect such rapid responses, thanks very much. I've now put the watch back in it's case and am looking at all my options for servicing. Any further info about this model would be of interest to me. I'm currently looking at all the links that you have supplied.
    kindest regards, Andrew :)

I'm just wondering if anyone can tell me if this watch would have been originally sold with the gold bracelet, or whether it was optional. The leather one that is attached has the Omega logo on the clasp.

It came in 3 flavors - with strap, with original gold omega bracelet from the factory and in a few cases with a gold bracelet attached by a dealer.
