I could almost tell from the model that the Scharnhorst is your *favorite* or at the very least the one you're most fond of.

Back in the day, when NYC was still interesting, we had a critical mass of awesome hobby shops in midtown manhattan, mostly centered around west 45th.

Thankfully, what's old is new and the "Maker Movement" is enjoying a bit of a renaissance. That said, it's difficult for a hobby store to make rent in NYC.

Anyway: your models are top notch / world class, especially the 1/1800's.

    Thanks for sharing.

I do enjoy the German heavies but the best looking Battleship ever built was the Italian Vittorio Veneto class. Probably Roma or Littorio in her fishbone camouflage. They’re my favorites.

Lately I’ve been focusing on Austro-Hungarian and WWI Royal Navy

She was built by Bremer Vulkan in 1938, Sperrbrecher 13 that is. Originally named Minerva before the KM requisitioned her for pathfinder duties

@b-16707 I like their work better than mine too. I met Flodberg at a national convention an ago ago. Just in passing though. I’ve never met Kim but I’d like to. His IJN Kongō is by far the best ship model I’ve ever seen.

Another fellow I follow is Kostas Katseas

That is amazing work, you have an incredible eye for detail. I especially like the ones that end at the water line or, like Endurance, have something going on around them.

After about 3 weeks of work, my 1/350 Titanic Triple-Expansion reciprocating steam engine is finished.

I have no idea how many hours I have in this little creation and I don’t want to think about it. Probably too many.

The whole model is entirely scratch built from styrene, aluminum (both tube and milled), brass (stock, tube, photo etched, wire), and stainless steel.

    Some pretty staggering statistics:

    Weight: 1,000 tons

    Height: 30 feet

    H.P. Cylinder Diameter: 54 inches

    I.P. Cylinder Diameter : 84 inches

    L.P. Cylinders Diameter: 97 inches

    Stroke: 75 inches

    Operating Speed: 76 r.p.m.

    Operating Output: 16,000 h.p.

Astonishing attention to detail, and a precision of assembly, far beyond my capabilities

Super images, and a prodigious talent

I take my hat off, to you

I just finished watching the Smithsonian Channel series on the Pacific Theater (WWII). It was really good and had lots of original film. You would appreciate the ships.
