    Hi

I am rather new on this forum.

Last year i purchased this ref. 2097, at that time i could hardly find any information on this ref.

I have found this interesting write from MSNWatch: http://omegaforums.net/threads/a-question-for-the-members-to-test-your-vintage-omega-knowledge.1940/

I can se mine is not one of the first 600 cal. 30 sadly.

It was from an estate in Sweden, found in a box with war medails and war papers. The owner was properly a Serbian jew that fled to Sweden. He served as an Officer in England during WW2.

The movement was untouched and after my watchmaker made a service it runs within 1 sec./day.

    CK 2097
    Cal. 30
    Movement 89711631
    Case 9836291
    1939
    37,5 mm.

That's lovely. It would be really interesting to see if you can research its original owner. The Ministry of Defence (in the UK) might be able to provide you with details of his military record - I presume you have his name etc.

If I'm not mistaken, mac_omega has one that is not only one of the first 600 but has original papers also.

No i dont have the name, it could have been interresting to know more about the story of the watch. I bought it of the person who took care of the estate.

Glad you asked, I had to Google it the first time I saw it. ::book:: It is an expression to lay claim to having the first rights - in this case to a potential future sale of the object. On the forum it also doubles as a compliment to a beautiful watch. Knowing it will likely never come up for sale, you express appreciation - and potential interest - by calling dibs, or first dibs, or when it is assumed there are many preceding dibs-es, to be added to the dibs list.

There is no actual "Dibs List" on the Forum, thank heavens, if there was it would be rather long ;) The owner of the watch is assumed to compile and update their own dibs list for each piece that they own . . .
