I'm looking to purchase both a tool for screw down casebacks but also pressure/snapback casebacks! Thanks OF, -J.
Rubber ball is preferred on screw down case back. If it's to hard for the rubber ball then superglue a nut to it. when you get the case back of you dissolve the glue in acetone Swiss army knife has a great snap on case back tool (the little blunt knife that made no sense as a child)
My go-to tool of preference has always been the razor blade for snap-off backs. I agree, the Swiss army knives aren't too thick to slip between the case and the back.
For which watches are you needing the tools for? Screw down backs have individual characteristics. Snap on backs are easier to handle.
I found it to be the opposite. Screw backs are a breeze, snap back can be a PITA! For snap backs. For screw backs (The one on the small drawers to the left).
Yes. I have little experience with opening snap back watches... Most of the time I can find a small gap to put the knife in. But I remember only one screw back watch that I couldn't open with my usual OMEGA toolbox: The lever on the right is the original but worse one, because the square fell out. The second on the left is the better solution I was lucky to find. Obviously, there are some tools I didn't use that frequently.
Have a look on Speedmaster101. This one seems to be highly recommended for Speedmasters. It has 6 fixed points of contact, where as, the other adjustable designs have only 2 or 3. http://speedmaster101.com/pahawis-opener-the-only-one-to-have/
NBA stars are alright but I prefer old race car drivers - this one apparently knew how to open a watch... Taken from here. Cheers, Chris
Seriously, I've been wanting to buy that loupe that he's got on his forehead. Anyone knows where I could buy the whole assembly?
The one on LeBron's forehead is probably an Audemars eyeglass but, search for: Watchmaker's eyeglass Watchmaker's eyeglass holder Cheers, Chris
I meany to say that the wires cost virtually nothing and choose an eyeglass at a reasonable price. For me, it's only those of us that use these every day for many hours that need an "aplanatic" design (at 5 times the cost). Cheers, Chris
