Old quartz watch with signs of moisture damage to the dial usually makes me keep walking

I Was looking at that just now also. Quartz and a crusty dial for $725 don't make it jumping material.

I thought the dial had "patina" to it. So vintage watches with those patina dial [IMG] [IMG]

Are these considered moisture / crusty dials too?

    Thanks for replying :)

If you want to buy it then buy it, I wouldn't go near it myself.

    Attractive wear is called patina.

    Unattractive wear is not patina.

Moisture/patina beauty is in the eye of the beholder:

Wouldn't touch this one though. Particularly as it's a quartz.

It's "wear" when you're buying it; "patina" when you're selling it ;)

The difference is that gentle patina on a 60 year old watch is charming and suggests a long and rich history. Water damage on a 25 or 30 year old watch suggests a catastrophe and possible movement rust. There are plenty of nice Pre-Bonds out there, there will be another along that doesn't need a new dial before too long. I have a couple myself!

Definitely not a jump-on-it piece. You'll come across a better one.

Keep an eye on the sales forums. Something you like will come up sooner or later. Good luck.
