Hey all, i have my eye on the Speedmaster 57 Vintage with the 9300 movement. Would love to see some wrist shots if possible! I don't remember seeing many photos of this watch on the forums.. Thanks!!!
That's exactly the one I am thinking of! It looks gorgeous! How does it wear with its 41,5mm size compared to say a 42mm PO? Can this be a dress watch that goes well with office wear, i.e. under the cuff of a shirt?
Yes, it's a gorgeous looking watch! I'm not familiar with the PO, but I can tell you that wearing the 57 for several days and then putting the Speedmaster Pro back on my wrist, it made feel the latter miniscule and feather-light. Size-wise, the 57 does not feel or look much larger than the Pro but you will notice its height and weight difference! Having sapphire crystals on both sides of the case is the main culprit for the additional height/weight. I suspect the 9300 movement packs a few more grams than the 1861. IMO, this is definitely not a [formal/dress] cuff-friendly watch – it’s a better match to a more casual/sporty wear.
Yup! they come with the new style, "shield" shape clasp. I'm a fan of these Omega deployant clasps! .
Definitely a striking looking watch. I love the silver bezel and the hands pop. Not sure that I would want to lug the extra weight over my 3570, but I gotta try this one on again at a dealer sometime.
I'm as well trying to find somewhere where I can try it. Really curious how it wears since the 44.25mm case seems really big and 41.5mm sounds perfect.
It's the same problem I have. The nearby AD doesn't have it in stock (and it's a little bit scaring to purchase on-line an expensive watch without a wrist-test, specially when I've always loved the curved lugs like PO, Moonwatch, AT, etc.)
I guided a friend to buy this watch. It looks great casual or with a suit. I instructed him to get it with the bracelet, which does look nice and understated. I changed it out for him to brown calf on deployment the week after which gave it a softer, vintage look. You cannot go wrong with this model.
I suspect many will favor its 41.5mm case size, however thickness and weight are [IMO] the two factors that could potentially turn people off.
Is it as thick as the 44,25mm Speedmaster? Given the smaller diameter, does it look disproportionately thick? Oh boy do I want to check this watch out in the flesh!
My perspective/comments are just my personal experience/comparison against the Pro and FOIS as these are much lighter and thinner; I don't see a size disproportion issue w/the 57. Your best bet is to wrist test the model at the store/boutique.
I do not own one (yet), this and the SM 300 Master are the only 2 I like in the current Omega line. I like having a date function. The three things i use the most on watches are to tell time, measure elapsed time, and date. What do they go for in the secondary market?
pre-owned? the only one I have seen.. http://forums.watchuseek.com/f29/omega-speedmaster-57-vintage-co-axial-chronograph-3014634.html
