Any opinions on this Omega De Ville 511.0472? Does it look legit? I've been sold it for £250-ish

I'm leaning toward real. You need to pop off the back to be sure.

I see a handful of references with that case shape/cases that look like that, so I am not convinced it is fake. I'm reasonably sure it is a 511.0472 assuming it is ~27-28mm and a manual wind. In that case its a 625 powered hand winder.

Looks like they sell for ~$300-$500US (though yours seems to be in somewhat rough condition with a dinged bezel and dirt under the glass).

Photo on the Omega vintage site doesn't match, but I see plenty listed around with this reference number.

SO, is 250GBP a 'deal'? I don't think so. This is not a particularly appreciated model, with a pretty 'meh' movement. From what I can see, it very much is going to need to have a service VERY soon, so expect to pay ~$300 for THAT if you want to be able to wear it. So I think you perhaps overpaid, but not by a huge amount.

Looks legit and utterly unremarkable. You know it is a women's watch, right? As such there will never be a high price attached to a plated model like that. £250 isn't a silly price if it is running well. If it needs servicing though it will owe you more like £500 before you know it and you'd never see that back if you sold it on. The fixed cost of servicing hits hard at the low value end of the market like here.

Thanks all, and yep, aware it's a women's watch, gold plated, and not particularly popular or remarkable! Good points on the fixed cost of servicing etc. I suppose, even though I rather like it, I can take some comfort in knowing nobody would bother faking a watch most people think is junk 😂

Basic workhorse watch. Simple movement. Build quality is what one expects from Omega.

620 and 485 movements are common and parts currently easy to come by. 625 is a later variation from the 1970s.

Value in these is basically the case and dial.

If you like it enjoy it.
