Hi guys, Just recently got this Omega from a trade, what do think? I like the patina on the dial, but it doesn't say swiss or similar on the bottom. Could still be original? Dials similar to this I've seen has the word swiss made written on em. Also the hour and minute hands seems wrong, have not seen these kinds of hands on calibre 283 before. But that's not a big problem Otto Frei seems to sell hands with reasonable price. The movement was just serviced and I think it looks okay, keeps great time. Regards, -J
Pictures too small to say conclusively, but dial could still be original if serial is low enough - around 1950 or before.
Movement number is 12291409 and case number 2504-9. Can you tell the year approximately from those? Thank you for help.
It was from around 1950-51 and some dials did not have Swiss/Swiss Made. To say if it is a redial or not, bigger and clearer pictures are needed though. http://ialreadyhaveawatch.com/watch-articles/omega/omega-serial-numbers-by-year/
Dial looks ok to me but the second hand needs to be replaced (broken handle) I have a 283 with "wrong hand length and wrong style" too.
