Currently on a custom built 1977 CB550 after riding sportbikes for the last 10 years. Any other riders here?
Ditto I can see you on that, wearing a long black leather coat, leather aviator helmet/goggles, big lace-up boots. Sort of Steam Punk Biker I've had so many bikes it's hard to remember, and when I do, I get the urge to get another one...................
Affirmative, and motorcycles definitely take the #1 spot on my time away from work list. Many bikes owned, loved, crashed, and all of them ridden the piss out of, including: Honda 50 Trailbike as a kid 80's DRZ400 Enduro (sold) 1984 Honda Nighthawk 700 S (Given to bro-in-law as gift) 1986 Yamaha SRX600 (sold) 1989 Honda GB500 (sold) 2000 Yamaha YZF-R1 (still own) 2006 KTM 625 SMC Supermoto (still own) 2006 Honda CRF 250x (stolen) I fully regret selling all of them, but I just don't have the garage space to store them all, nor the time to ride them all, and motorcycles don't like to sit around for long periods without use. I've had the most fun on the Supermoto, and the most thrills, and broken bones on the R1. I used to ride a ton, especially loved traveling on the bikes, Saddlesore 1000's (that's 1000 miles in 24 hours or less), and for about 8 years, every friday night my friends and I would get together for a couple hundred mile "relieve the stress" rides. God that was glorious. Lately, its mostly track days and 1 weekend day a month for riding. I'm lucky that I live in San Diego, which is a combination of great weather and great roads. Only place better I've found to ride is Colorado. Tentatively, a friend and I have been thinking of a 2 week ride across Europe for 2015, the only problem is, I keep spending all my leisure money on watches (thanks OF), and not leaving any left for motorcycle play.
@repoman Jealous. Up here in Canadaland, the riding season is generally about 4 months long, so I don't get enough time to ride as I would like to.
More into 4X4s as need to tow the boats but the Stacey (misses) was riding one of these when i met her and up to not long ago.
Canada isn't that bad..... I'm in southern Ontario and its only been three weeks since I was last out. I get about nine months riding in most years. But then most of those who know me think I'm nuts. Currently: 1966 Honda, 1977 Jawa (see avitar) 1984 Jawa, 2007 Vespa, 2011 Piaggio (bike number 30 for me)..... past loves. Cafe bikes???? How's this: the Jawa was one of three black Jawa 350s in regular use that summer, licencing wasn't a problem as all three had the same serial number (odd that) my recently retired Enfield dammit..... even took one to the church for the wedding....... ('53 ex Canadian army Triumph) Oh yeah.... and a BMW with only one lung.... almost forgot that one...... next up???? a Royal Enfield Continental GT..... in yellow I think.
That CB500 is beautiful! I had a CB350 as my first, but it did not look like that. Currently, 2001 Bonneville, though the tail is cleaned, that rear fender came off, and the turn signals are all low profile now. It's a work in progress...
OH! you live in CANADA! I've lived out west. My brother, who is still in Winnipeg, visits once in a while, when he leaves he says he's going home to Canada..... our family calls this area, Toronto to Niagara, the banana belt. I still laugh like hell when I'm out for a ride, its around zero, and I see locals who are dressed like its -40. Mmmmmm...... Russian junk! This thing got worse gas mileage than my wife's 4 litre Ford LTD sedan but it was fun!
I need to take some pics of my bikes. I've got a VFR800, Yamaha Stryker, GSXR750 trackbike, and a Yamaha BWS/Zuma 50. The scoot will go on another big rally this year for the Mad Bastard Scooter Rally! http://madbastardrally.com/
Not a biker myself but my good friend is an avid collector. Here r a couple pics when i paid him a visit recently. He just won one at auction when the pic was taken. There r at least 3 triumphs n others in the other corner under the hood.
Oh yes. Bikes are the main love. The constant is the BMW R1200s. What a great all rounder. The year before last it took me 3000 miles down to the south of France and then over the Swiss Alps and back home through the edge of Germany and Northern France where I visited my great uncles war grave And the Harley XR1200 that I ran as well last season. Great fun but ultimately not for me. This one had BST carbon fibre wheels, Metmachex swing arm, Ohlins shocks and front fork inserts, a power commander and many other bits and bobs. I'd really like a Moto Guzzi Griso. Stay safe guys Steve
Nice to have a bike thread among watch lovers. My daily ride is a HD Road King and for the rest I am into classic Italian, eg Laverda and Moto Guzzi. Winter here now and salt on the roads, so they are all asleep in the garage.
I've currently got ten in my collection, I'll post them one at a time starting with my 1962 650ss Norton.
