I've had this model in my collection for quite some years and although I generally prefer less "ornate" watches, this Zenith manages to put a smile on my face every time I bring it out for some air. If I had a magic wand I'd swap out the 3 step case for something simpler and get rid of the silver rings around the subdials; the rest works and nicely.

The dial comes alive under sunlight and the applied numerals and hands reflect the light in such a pleasing way.
Also, I'm sure as a late comer to the Zenith forum, I am being very repetitious in saying that the El Primero is a visually very satisfying movement to look at.

Attached a late aft shot of mine... IMG_3434.JPG

I’ve been looking at acquiring a 1969 or later say , a 1990 Zenith cal.3019 after reading about the history of the movement and the late 60s race w Seiko and the Breitling, Hauer, Buren et al consortium - to produce the first chrono automatic. Having Rolex use this (modified; lowered beat down from 36k etc ) calibre -early on, speaks volumes as to the voracity of Zenith. Your watch is stunning. I like the moon phase too. How did you decide on this particular Z?

Also. Is there a difference between yours and the ”Epervier” branded I see?

At the time, the amount of information displayed on the dial was a selling pt but also the open works of the movement revealing the layers of detail was a big part of the purchase decision...but as I said earlier, I only wished the case was a little less elaborate.

Thank you, yes the moon phase adds great contrast and character. I'm afraid I am not that familiar with the Epervier.:( Not a lot of info on them but some pics show a Cal 400 movement used??

Very nice and still a relatively affordable and outstanding quality watch compared to the 16520 daytona powered with the 4030

This is what an Epervier looks like https://www.chrono24.fr/zenith/el-primero-epervier-ref-190130400--id8552961.htm but it was mostly an italian market model with an el primero cal 400 indeed

I agree, although not perpetual, still a lot of value for money given the complications...always think of it as a modern UG Tricompax hence my love for both.
