Hi everyone.

I just joined and have already spent quite a bit of time looking at all your beautiful watches. I don't see many women here ( or women's watches ), but I hope I am welcome too.

This was my fathers Omega which he wore daily for many years. I was told by my mom that he wore it to Canada from Yugoslavia around 1950. It keeps perfect time but I took it in for a service anyway because I plan to keep it and wear for the rest of my life. The movement looks good for its age I think, but I have never seen the inside of a watch before, so I wanted to show you the pictures.

My picture of the watch's face did not turn out so well so I will show it later.

Looking forward to dial photos. The serial number places it right at 1950. Google "Omega cal 283" for some other examples. Wait for some advice before having it serviced.

Welcome. Looks like a very nice looking original Omega movement, but I am no expect.
I agree that you should post a picture of the watch's face when you can.

 

I don't think it matters what gender you are.

If you like watches, can take decent movement shots and tell us some of the history behind it then we are well satisfied.

Your movement looks nice and clean and after a service it should serve you well for many years.

Your caliber 283 was produced in 1949 and the serial number ties in with your date of 1950.

Hope to see some more shots.

You'll find as in most watch forums women are few and far between but gentlemen are very welcoming.

Beautiful Story of Dad, 1950s , from Old Eastern Europe to New World... i can see You Adore & Love Dad with all Your Heart ...This prized Omega possession is your Family Heirloom that You Must Guard & Pass to your Grandchildren 1 day.. Maybe for Safety Issues , You should get a 2nd but modern Omega to wear over the weekdays & dad's vintage over the weekends...?
