    Hi everyone,
I just received this watch from my father and was wondering if anyone could give me a bit of feedback/info on it? My understanding is it's from the 50's and is a "bumper" if that's the correct term. Any feedback would be appreciated.
First time poster here - great to find this forum.

You are correct about it being a bumper automatic, probably a cal. 342 or 344.

Your watch most likely has a US made case mated to an Omega swiss movement. Any idea of the case metal? Is it solid 14K or gold-filled?

The band is aftermarket, but looks like it was made about the same era as the watch in the early 1950's.

    Hope this helps,

Picture of the inside and inside back would help a lot.

Thanks for the feedback - I believe that the case is solid 14K though I'm not sure. The links to the info on the movements are much appreciated....not sure exactly what I'm looking at but definitely a start!

My next stop is a jeweler. Been to two so far to ask that they take a look but they had no luck opening the case.... Need to find a watchmaker!

It's definitely gold plated or capped, not solid gold. If it were, there would be a gold caseback, not a stainless steel one.

I believe you are only seeing a reflection, even a gold-filled one would have a gold-filled back, these were not made with ss backs.

You must be right, it could be a reflection, just really looks like a stainless back to me.
