bought this from an antique store in 2013. The guy said it is from the early 1900s. It says 14K gold on the back but the color is fading - maybe it’s white gold that has been plated? It also says lizard skin strap. It is manual wind up. Any info would be so appreciated!
I highly doubt it’s real. If you open the case back and show us the movement and case back we can confirm. 80’s fake to me. No reason for drilled lugs and no hallmarks.
Typical ca 1960s Sapphette, quite genuine. 14K marking correct for a US market watch. White gold really isn't that white, so these were typically rhodium plated over solid "white" gold, which is why you see a the yellowish color coming through from polishing or simple wear. Here's a similar 18K YG example.
Oh that looks a lot like it! Forgive me, I know NOTHING about watches. I was just drawn to how petite it is. So it is real? Is it worth anything at all? Should I open it? If so, how? I just bought my first “fancy” watch from Hamilton (quartz though) so I’m just starting my watch education
Most of the information about your watch is here. The only additional information that may give a definite model number and approximate date is inside the watch. I suggest you don't try to open it yourself. This is good reading for "watch investigators".
