Hey guys just had this Omega come into my safekeeping.

I'm just wondering if you know anything about this particular model? Was it just a civilian military style watch?

One of my friend had exactly this specific reference 2169/2. As to info we found it seems that this is a civilian model made in military style. this dial looks exactly as his and seems to be a authentic one. Actually we even tested the lume with Geiger counter and there was a three digit value on that which is pretty high.

Watch is legit and dial is looking great. Some rust on the second hand and some tear around the subdial other than that it looks great.

Don't know what the others think looks strange or if they don't see that it's a distortion from the crystal.

    - I asess it as you did. The lume is terrible though and should be replaced.

I disagree. Leave the lume. I believe it to be original. I've had a few of these and the lume doesn't look the same on either one. Just look on the different watches presented here on the forum.

Yeah you could do that, but it still looks terrible in my opinion. The watch is not in a collectible condition, so I would get it fixed. We just simply disagrees here.

Here is an enhanced/corrected picture of the watch...

I think you're completely of. The watch is absolutely in a collectible condition. Nothing wrong with the lume and its 99% chance it will look worse after its "fixed" compared to how it look now. I sure hope you're a little drunk now or something because suggesting ruining the watch above is beyond me and I hope that's nothing you do with your own watches, ruining then with relume and such.

I can now hear OF members reaching for the bowls filled with popcorn :D The debate party is not going to happen - at least not today.
As mentioned I totally disagrees and I do that in a totally sober state of mind :) Fresh lume, made in a correct colour matching the overall apperance will make the watch looks stunning.
Here is a watch that donkii bought from me some time ago. This is an appearance i appreciate...

Of course that's a condition appreciated but to say that the other watch has a lume that looks bad and has to be relumed is to take it a bit to far and you know it as well. How often do you come across watches that looks like the one you posted above? I would say almost never, right?

The depate is that you suggest to relume it and I totally disagree..

So you're just talking about the hands?

    - Oh yes of course, as I mentioned the ugly colour, I thought that was obvious.

I thought you meant the dial.... That's why I was upset... :D you wrote the lume and didn't clarify that you meant the hands

The second one is definetely looking better! Actually the rust on the hands is met very often on these watches, it's too hard to keep the watch far from wet almost 80 years.

What I might suggest is purchase a NOS second hand and keep the rusted one for the aficionados (and sale) much later.

I have a military CK 2444 WWW and purchased sword hands NOS which were available for a price. Color matched hands lume with old lume hour spots by true restorer. Some are superior.

I kept the rusty hands for the experts requiring originals.

I'd get it serviced and wear the hell out of it. Its a lovely watch with some character.
