Hello I noticed the fonts on my two watches to be different. They had been purchased on ebay some time ago. At the the time had them checked and was assured the dial to be original. One is a a manual from the early to mid 60s, the automatic is from late 60s to early 70s. Notice little arrow markers on manual one. What do the experts think?
Strange as starburst and the rest looks non restored it looks aged. Perhaps in the past the top part was repaired. The letters in Omega are a bit wonky. The movement and stamp on case back looks ok. What is your overall expert impression and opinion Hoipolloi? Cheers
I think its OK, nearly impossible to keep the non applied figures that crisp on a refinished dial. How about a nice straight on shot of the entire dial?
The M got me as well. This is so weird, if it was a repainted dial would the burst dial look like that? Also in the crystal a logo is visible. Mind you that means nothing you could get a genuine crystal and fit it.
I think the M in OMEGA should be a little different from the M in AUTOMATIC but it's the same on yours. The automatic has a refinished dial.
Sorry, I have to disagree. Here are two other examples pulled from the net with the same OMEGA print.
I am sorry for going on about this a bit. Can you see my frustration, I have seen similar examples of the M on the net. That's the good thing about these forums. They entertain and we search for the truth. Bad redial and Omega quality control. Who knows? That's the exciting thing about vintage.
