The watch is not working and has the crown missing
The movement has no Omega branding but beneath the balance wheel you can see a Swiss Symbol

Thanks

What has your research suggested so far?

.....

Is this a watch in your possession, or one you're considering purchasing?

As fake as fake can be.

Not worth the time to research.

But if one didn't know it was fake, wouldn't it at least be worth the effort of finding that out?

It's hard to prove a negative. Much easier for us to say, not Omega.

Sorry.

I mean: the dial, movement, case, caseback all point with 100% certainty that it's phony. The dial alone has several features that never appear on a legitimate Omega watch. Any one of these would be sufficient for someone with any familiarity with real and not-real Omega styled watches to recognize it as a pile of garbage.

But if OP knew it was a pile of garbage, he wouldn't have asked the question.

So, research is how you get to recognize these sort of things.

Different people have different needs at different times. The Milwaukee Public Library has a service called "Ready Reference" for when you just need one fact soonish without having to do all of the sometimes onerous research yourself.

For example, when I still had a landline, I used Western Electric 302 desk sets. I needed to know the exchange name that went with my exchange, 54X. In a very short period of time, I was told that exchange was "LIncoln" (the first two letters capitalized on purpose), so my phone number was LIncoln 5-XXXX.

The internet explosion has made a lot of data available, it is true... but it is hard to determine what is true knowledge.

As noted, it's not an Omega. It looks like a Lorsa movement to me. The caliber number is beneath that Swiss mark under the balance. For what it's worth, it's quite an old fake, so it is a bit of a curiosity.

My opinion: from a certain price on I need a 10x magnifying glass and should know what an original (dial) looks like. Studying at C24 helps, but doesn't rule out errors. I know, for example, my original Seamaster and Constellation under 30x magnification.

Probably a Lorsa 238 variant. BTW, it probably wouldn't have a "Swiss mark" ...............

Ah shit, as I was typing this I saw the post above 😁

Thanks everybody it looked dodgy to my uneducated eye. It was given to me with a number of real vintage Omegas.
It will go back to the bottom of my junk box..
thanks again.. I think we can close this thread now

You can't post that on a vintage Omega collectors' forum and just leave it there!

I’m not sure what you mean “Edward 53” in your reply. If it is a criticism of me then a solution would help.
As a new member to this forum any positive help is appreciated. Criticism without a suggested solution
seems really poor form..

It's OK Jeff, @Edward53 was intimating that, as you has OTHER Omega watches, it is your Ω beholden and Ω sworn duty to post photos of said watches.

There was not criticism involved (simply lost in translation).

Now let's see some of those other Omega watches.

Cheers
Jim

Well I have
1. Memomaster quartz in gold a bit worn but still looks good. Need batterys to see if it’s functional.
2. F300 with the tuning fork movement in gold with a red bezel. Looks great and runs well
3. Another f300 in SS in a different case almost like the Seiko Helmet Case. Runs well also.
4. A beautiful slim Geneva in Gold..
5. A couple of Devilles
6. A few more Genevas that run but in not so good condition.
7. I also have a Bulova with the same movement as the f300’s
Plus others I’ll post some photos I have and photograph some others..

An interesting thing about the Bulova the original battery was mercury and the silver oxide replacement needs a little rubber ring to help position the smaller battery..you can see it in the photo..
