Any help identifying this Omega watch would be great.

Hi all,

My dad just found an Omega watch that he originally received from his uncle and has been sitting in the attic for around 30 years. He doesn't know anything about the origin of it, but we'd love to know details on what model it is etc. I don't think we would have an intention to sell it but we'd be curious to know it might be worth as well.

Thanks in advance!

No particular model name. It's from about 1953, and cased in the UK in a locally made 9k gold Dennison case. The cal 266 movement is from the 30mm family of manual wind movements. Looks to be in nice condition, maybe 500-700 GBP as a rough approximation of value.

That's a nice thing to find in the attic!
The photos show all the information you need. It's a Dennison cased (UK market), 9K gold, Omega 13322. These go for the less than the swiss cased examples, but are still nice.
I recently sold a steel 13322 for around $400usd.
Yours is solid gold with a nicer dial so it will fetch more.

I saw a similar 'head' sell on Ebay yesterday for around £400. The bracelets usually sell for a little over scrap value. If you'd be interested in selling the bracelet, I have a Denison case of my own it would pair nicely with, so I might be interested in it. PM me 😀

Looks very lovely. It’s nice to have inherited something like this from an uncle.

That’s interesting, would you share that listing @OllieOnTheRocks, I couldn’t find it?
What I did find was a refinished one which sold for more than you’re citing, of course it may have been a newbie bidding - but the one posted here is much nicer and more valuable.

This is the one I was referring:

However this one was neither a Swiss case or a Dennison case, it was an unmarked case - therefore likely to be worth less. This one did however come with a top hat box, which seem to sell for £80-100 on their own. Still that would leave approx £400 on the watch.

Olie 😀

Also it seems to be UK only- meaning fewer bidders and lower price. That would also explain why I could’not find it.

Don’t forget service costs. Fully working a nice original 9k 13322 might make circa £600. The service will be circa £200 so the op watch is logically worth about £400. The bracelet is interesting but not a Dennison product, it’s by another Birmingham manufacturer. The hallmark looks like JC&S which was used by Joseph Cook and Sons. That will make scrap plus maybe £50 at a guess. It is probably more valuable than the head. It doesn’t look adjustable which is typical of aftermarket bracelets so if it is too short it’s useless to a prospective buyer. It also looks a little stretched in places.

Hi apsm100, your case was a Dennison 13332 case, not a 13322, quite a different design of case, just saying!

The OP's watch looks great and would definitely be a keeper for me.

I have 3 Dennison 13322 cased watches, one plated midcase Smiths and 2 Longines, one in stainless steel and one 9ct, they are good quality cases in my opinion and sit very nicely and comfortably on an average sized wrist.

30 years, that’s absolutely incredible! Thank you for sharing this story. I honestly believe you should publish it on social media!

I don't know if you still have that watch, but just gold value alone for 9k would put that at over $1,000, even in 2021 dollars. Gold right now is 35/g (more like 25/g in 2021) and mens watch bands usually weigh over 35 grams, and that's not including the case
