The Beverly Hills Fan Company "Stratos" was the first truly modern ceiling fan, having no reference to the Victorian-era designs that pervaded the fan industry when they were introduced in the 1980s. Among its innovations is the column-like support in place of the down rod used on other fans, lending a sense of attachment to the architectural space. Designed by Ron Rezek.
I installed them in my bedrooms and office way back in 1990 and they still work great and still look modern, perhaps even timeless now.
