    Greetings all,

I have an opportunity to buy a GL0158, the 36mm “limited” model from a fellow enthusiast. It’s sold out everywhere and no classified’s around for it so nothing to price shop against.
I’ve never handled one, so can’t speak to build quality etc, but love the concept and size (I like smaller watches- my 39Mm+ watches barely get much wear these days). I haven’t been actively searching for one, I had seen them online when they came out, but this is just a matter of opportunity and a nice to have, but wasn’t on my radar until now.
Seller has worn it, but if comes with boxes and papers and appears near flawless. He wants a premium for it since it’s NLA and a “limited” model, but I don’t go for the limited hype on anything, if it’s what I want it’s what I want. He wants $850 which according to ended auctions on eBay is a bit higher than average ($500-700), and I know he paid $550 +/- for it when they were blowing them out as we had talked about it before he was thinking of selling it.

Is this watch worth the hype, should I make an offer on it or just be patient and find another for a lower price? My thinking is that if he wants his money back out of it, I can offer him $600 or just pass as this isn’t a high priority for me, but looks like a very cool watch.
    Thoughts?

Tempting and good looking watch, think your 600 is on the money, id buy for that price but not a lot more. Anymore and you are heading towards Seiko Navigator money and think I'd have the Seiko over the Glycine.

I also think these will come back in the use market and trade around 500 in about a year

Nice watch. I’m watching a larger version in copper, the 24 hour dial is very cool. At the right price, go for it

What attracted me to this particular model is the smaller size and domed acrylic crystal, but it has the brushed lugs as opposed to the earlier No1 which appears all polished (I assume that’s what is the “limited” part besides the 1/1000 numbering??)- neither really matters, the different finishes are a nice touch though as they play the light differently.
The form factor, history and almost 1:1 repro of the original is what I find appealing. It’s also smaller than my Rolex GMT-which I always though was spot on but have been on a small watch kick recently.
The fact that Glycine doesn’t have a 36mm in their product range now that Invicta took charge makes this slightly more appealing.
What sign are you getting that they may bring it back in 36mm?

Wait until they have these for sale on the MassDrop website. They have them often, brand new and for the same(if not less) money.

I checked out Massdrop and it appears they had the white one recently, but the 36mm black one wasn't there in the recent past. I assume they just blow out overstock (never used massdrop) and from what I read, these 36mm models were blown out when Invicta took over to clear old stock. I assume if they do get more, it will be the more current 40mm versions, or do you think there is still stock of the 36 floating around?
As I said before, this isn't must have, but its a cool watch that's now on my radar and if there aren't more 36's coming up on the blow-out sites (Massdrop, Ashford, Joma), then I would make an offer on this one rather then wait and hope they re-release it.

It's only my opinion, but if you like the look of the Glycine Airman, then go for a purist/non-GMT version for proper 24 hour dual-time goodness

I actually like the GMT as a 24 hour dial in a regular rotation would hurt my pea-brain.
I told the seller I was gonna pass and he came back at $575, with box and papers, unworn factory strap...that may be too good to pass ip

If you want a 36mm 24 hour piece, it’s not like there are any other options.

There are a few available online... that price undercuts them by about 50us.

Yeah, I think finally his price is right. If I find I don’t wearing it I could flip it for what I have in to it- which is always my goal, to not lose money on watches and break even if I can.

Sounds expensive to me for a used one. I picked up a brand new 40mm purist directly from the Glycine shop on eBay late last year with a factory discount and an eBay voucher for just over US$500 in today’s money. It’s a fun watch, but in the numbers produced, not something I would have thought would attract a premium on resale.

For like a good 2-3 month earlier this year the seller named "Glycine-Direct" on eBay was selling them as low as $499. They still have some 40mm GMT in stock at $599 last time I checked (about a month ago), but the 36mm purist ones are all gone.

I bought mine (36mm purist white dial) on Massdrop in Oct last year for $599+tax. Was a bit upset to see the deal on ebay later on since that's about $150 lower than what I paid including tax. It was a good watch for the money for sure. But as I move up in the tiers, this watch just got less and less wrist time, and appear to be a bit "unimpressive". That's the word my wife used every time she saw the watch, I guess eventually it took a toll on me LOL. I recently sold it on eBay for $599. I think it is the fair price at this point. So your $600 is a decent and fair offer.

If the seller does not accept it, I'd say pass and be patient. This version is the 2nd re-issue of the No. 1. There was a previous re-issue in 2017 or so, with the 10 ATM water resistance (this 2nd re-issue was labeled 1 ATM WR). I have a feeling that they will have more re-issues in the future, but that's just my opinion...

The 36’s seem to be what everyone wants- probably becuase you cant get them anymore. Plus they were only made in 1k batch runs so when they sold out-that was it. It’s not a watch I would normally buy, but have to admit it is cool.

It would be way down the food chain from others I have but I really don’t discriminate- if it’s a great watch that’s all the matters. I’ll wear a Breitling or a Rolex one day and a 60’s Bulova or Benrus the next and love them equally.

I looked there and only saw a single a single black 36mm Airman 1 and that was 1100. Is there geo locked results on chrono24? Still feel I'm missing something.

I had a similar issue when blue alpinist hit secondary market. There were loads on eBay I was not seeing as my address was set to EU

This was a numbered limited edition, although of many thousands.
