I purchased a "2503.80" and setting the date and time felt a little cheap to me. I started inspecting the watch and I noticed a few details that were off: Font of the 5 and CO-Axial misalignment.

Cursive font of Seamaster completely off (a, s, t)

Wrong seconds hands LOL

Filthy and stripped screws.

I made this purchase on watchexchange on reddit from someone with over 300 transactions and thankfully I was refunded. However, the seller is still adamant that the watch is genuine and insists that every seamster they own "the cursive s connects and fonts change over the years". I am looking for some insight on that comment, because I cannot find an AT online anywhere that has the cursive font they are insisting.

Thanks for reading!

So your theory is that only the dial is fake?

Well the watch was obviously serviced, and got new hands... ( cough service dial cough)

Or you think the entire thing is fake and you didn't show actually show any of the important parts to prove its not a fake....

Movement picture would be the way to tell, particularly the balance. The 2500 is crazy-easy to fake, since it is just a mildy modified 2892 (with a coax + finishing + freesprung balance, but all of those are less noticable unless you know what you're looking for).

The one movement picture you have: very much has had someone inside of it, thats for sure. I can't answer the font stuff, but I will say that the 'O' in coaxial being slightly to the left/dropped 5-straight part of the font are on every reputable one of these i could find on google, same with the Seamaster logo.

End of the hour hand looks pretty rounded/bad for Omega as well...

I find myself VERY much wanting to see the rest of the watch, as without evidence/someone smarter than me coming around, there are some suspicious things that lean towards "fake" to me.

I returned the watch so I only have a few photos left of it

Thanks for hospitality...you can see I'm new here. I don't have the watch anymore, and you must not have read my entire post. My main question is, did the cursive font in seamster ever look like that? The "m" almost looks like an "n". If you don't have an answer, that's also fine. Thanks

Read between the lines, and revisit what I said, as well as others.

It’s inconclusive from the pictures you posted.

Ie there is some dial variation out there. It could also be fake. Since the items that need to be looked at to conclusively provide it’s fake via pictures have not been included.

The hands are all wrong - there shouldn't be a red tip on the seconds hand...the hour and minute hands have angles that shouldn't be there, and appear to not have the right "break" down the middle of each hand.

If you know the serial number I can look it up to see if it matches the correct model - they are always the wrong model on the fakes.

More photos from Reddit lol

I see the SN on the lug barely. But there should be a laser etch hippocampus on this model.
