Longines golden age chronographs are absolutely out of my limited area of knowledge. What do the experts think about this one?: At less than EUR 2900 price seems to be cheap. Should I go for it or not?
The reason that the price is so cheap is because the dial has been refinished. Without an original dial, a 13ZN such as this (gold case, soldered lugs) is definitely not worth the asking price.
The pics are not too big, so i´m not sure but the case seems to be made for a 30ch chronograph. All golden casebacks belonging to 13zns that I´ve seen, were showing the movement number (in one line) and no reference - here you can see 6094 or 5094 + 3 digits below - more or less like the most early 30ch casebacks. The crown also looks like 30ch...
The case certainly does seem to be for a 30ch (especially the signed crown). However, a late 13zn with gold case and reference number may be okay: http://www.carsandwatches.com/longines-13zn-oversize-for-turler/
Yes, correct: I can imagine a small batch between the regular 13zns and the transitionals (with ourglass symbol on the dial). I was not sure about that, because i never saw one of these. My 23485 has a later movement number, but a regular 13zn design.
