I think this was a bargain at $9375:

I think the rest of the Pre -78's were smelly.Reviewed here, but I think this 145.012-67 selling for $4400 more than people have paid for the bezel on it....well I think it was really cheap and well done to the buyer.

I think I am kicking myself. I wonder if there was something wrong with it that viewing in the metal would have shown?

Certainly had it been in Sothebys it would have gone higher!

It sure was a bargain. Congrats to the buyer. Next time Antiquorum needs to do a better job then this, seller would have got more selling it on eBay, honestly.

@Spacefruit was the case overpolished? Edges look a little soft in the pic. Decent price for sure.

That may be the case. The photo is soft. I didnt see it myself. Spending money elsewhere...

The pushers look awkward to me, almost oval-ish. Maybe it's just the lighting, but they jumped out at me.

    Dial is incredibly attractive though

It will probably be wearing a chipped bezel soon...

Interesting and encouraging post @Spacefruit .
I had a look at the rest of them on Speedmaster101 and I was particularly interested in the two 105.012 examples featured in the sale that each made $7500. Not bad for a pair of "tarts".

Encouraging for those who may one day be offering better quality, less prepared watches for sale.

This contrast was particularly evident when comparing the lovely example you call "The Chef's watch", featured in the following article. Looking forward to seeing that Speedmaster when it returns from the workshop.

I've been at Antiquorum on friday but didn't take it to check in metal - I had a strong feeling that those hands are service and SLN. Even if not, they aren't in line with the dial aging, hence not attractive at all to me. My two cents here :)

The hand/dial mismatch is pretty jarring IMO, for that kind of $

I did give it a cursory bid or two but ultimately avoided winning the lot due to the non hands to dial issue.

Please find the condition report below for your kind reference.

    Lot 365

Case is in good overall condition with some signs of polish and light scratches, some wear to the outer speedmaster logo

Dial in good overall condition with some patina but all lume present

Movement slightly scratched but in good overall condition, all functions working, last service unknown .

This lot below was confirmed as highly likely to be relumed by the auction house. However they were adamant that it was probably done a long time ago. As if that makes it any better...

Dial is effectively much less attractive than in "official" picture and hands are definitely replacements.
It was coming with 16 end-links, was the bracelet 1506?

Thanks. Missed that. Also the 145.012-67 I have came with 1506 (4.66). I guess back in time they weren't very picky when they wanted to buy a bracelet and 1506 was not much scarcer than 1039.
