Wouldn't mind having item #73 (VC quarter repeater jeweled to the hammers) or #74 (black waffle dial VC automatic caliber 2499 - only the most gorgeous vintage full rotor automatic ever made).

LouS - you'll like the stuff starting with item #116.

Nice to see they still aren't disclosing redials. See Lot 251. Lot 11 has an undisclosed replacement dial.

But, swoon, Lots 123 and 124. Can anyone speak to the originality of those Longines Divers?

Saw those Legend Divers - they look fine from what little is shown in those catalog pictures. Was hoping to see an 18ct Conquest Power Reserve but no luck.

Antiquorum doesn't know their Omegas very well and any detail description should be taken lightly. I've been to their previews and pointed out clear flaws in their Speedmasters to which the staff was surprised....

Their ignorance is not restricted to Omegas. They have also been known to Photoshop catalog pics: http://www.chronocentric.com/forums/heuer/index.cgi?md=read;id=64738
    It's a minefield out there.

I stopped looking at AQ's auctions after the OmegaMania debacle of 2007. For those not around to remember, this was a single brand auction, sponsored by Omega. All watches were serviced by Omega and came with their 2-year warranty. Very unusual for any auction house to do this.

In that auction, there were several obvious redials, including at least two SM300's with "stubbies" on the dial. Inquiries were made of AQ, to which only crickets answered (no response).

Several of us inquired on TimeZone, where we were threatened with bans, burning at the stake and drawing and quartering if we persisted in our clearly ridiculous quest for truthful disclosure of condition. AQ does have a grade for redials, but they rarely use it.

To Omega, I say, if you lie down with dogs, you wake up with fleas.

Vintage is certainly a minefield. For those in NYC better luck may be had if you check out Christies. It's a bit different as they now take your money if you just walk in off the street and see a watch you like!

Yup, seems every shop out there (including eBay) will find a way to meet the market. Just gotta keep asking those silly questions. Agreed, also, there can be times our questions are not viewed as a quest for clarity but impediments to the sacred business model. As usual, buyer beware

Was that at the time when AQ had already bought TZ? If so, then it's no surprise they were involved in the cover up...

Not meaning to start a TZ bashing, but really that place is amazing on many levels...

    Cheers, Al

I initially wanted to register to bid on a UG but after reading all the posts here and read their policy, got really discourage as it seems like they are just out for a quick buck (25% premium!!!) I saw at least two items that are obvious not mint but classified as such, have to wonder why would they expect us to shell out the big bucks if items are not carefully vetted...

25% is about standard for sellers premium among watch auction houses

True, Lou. But at that mark up they should properly vet the product they are selling.
