Hi all, We are off to Cambodia (Phnom Penh and Siem Riep) in just over a month. Does anyone have recommendations for: - hunting for watches or other antiques - good food - other hidden gems Thanks Daniel
I understand a lobster dinner in Cambodia is, like, a dollar. Or at least that's what they said in Men in Black.
Man, I got a great tan, a most excellent gold jacket, and a Reverso! Not too keen on my new hat though. It's missing the Phillies P.
Respectable Member cicindela Recently my wife and son wanted to eat some 'sizzling lamb' and I ordered a take-away in a small plastic container, from a Thai take-away joint. When I paid with a $10.00 note, the lady told me, 'not enough' and it is whopping $19.00! My wife said, during her recent trip to Singapore, for double the amount of the 'sizzling lamb' and presumably more delicious, she paid only Singapore $5.00 in an eat-in restaurant. Mind you, the juicy and tender lamb is an Australia import. If I could find a way to sell a $6.00 take-away meal in Sydney, very likely after six months, I would be able to own a few desirable vintage Omega and Rolex watches. Respectable member OmegaVintage and family (?) do enjoy your trip there and please make sure, check your cholesterol-level, when you come home. Thank-you.
Respectable Member ulackfocus As long as one can avoid paying shop rental and staff salary, there will be some profit to be made at the end of the day, provided there is a great turn-over. Staff salary can be avoided for a one-man show but shop rental will remain a killer - there is where all the profits will go to. Thank-you.
It's getting it back into Joizey that's the problem. I'd like to mount an M-134 to my Corolla fender and an AT-4 as back up in the trunk, but there might be some customs issues coming in from Carjackistan with those items in my luggage.
So, been in Seim Reap for a few days now. Angkor Watt is truly amazing. At the airport, there is a big clock (nothing surprising in that), but it is a modern Constellation! I will try and get photos when I leave. In the market, I've counted at least a dozen stalls selling all of the terrible fakes you can imagine, from Omega, to Patek, Longines, etc. one Faux-mega I 'tried on' was $25. Yes, everything is stupidly cheap, even in the tourist zones. Dinner for 2 adults ranges from $7 to $15. Massages are $8 for an hour in the slightly seedy places. Coffee is $1.
