    Naw it was a low estimate when it came out. The gold Daytona from the same period sold at auction for what 2x what they said in the show.

    this was my favorite AR segment. it always blows my mind that $104 in 1960 is about $868 today. meanwhile, a new SS GMT is 10x that amount.

    And for many military Rolex still has that resonance as back in the 1970s for some Apollo astronauts (Collins, Swigert, Mitchell, ... to name a few) their personal favorite chronograph which they even took to the Moon :D

    He would have been happy with $1500. So you can imagine how many dealers take advantage of people with expectations like this.
