Couldn't quite make it out in that short clip, Is it a 2998? Looked like long indices on the subdials?

£3k value for a 7912 bracelet? Seems high to me

I was half watching it whilst doing something else and I thought he said £18-20k....restored.

So don’t wear your Speedies whilst mowing the lawn ok.
The guy was burgled, but thieves must have dropped it whilst fleeing, so was found 6 months later when cutting the lawn

Worse than that, the owner's wife only found the watch sometime later whilst turning over the compost heap.
The crystal was cracked (presumably from going through the lawn mower) hence the dial was in such a bad state after sitting in a steaming compost heap for months.

I think the 'expert' was somewhat disingenuous with his valuation.
To be fair he did say the watch was 'derelict' but he should have said something like, 'if the watch had been in serviceable condition it might be worth £18-20k'. (or whatever it actually would be worth)
He didn't mention the thousands it would take to 'restore' the watch to make it saleable.

Which proves that lawnmowers are verified killers of watches.

I think it was disingenuous.

1. that strap in that condition (which appeared to only have one endlink) is not worth £3k.
2. The watch, when restored may just be worth £18k, but it may well be closer to £10-12k and it will cost £4-7k to get it there.

I think the overall value was overhyped and the work/cost required to get it to retailable condition was glossed over.

and what was the bullshit the so-called 'expert' was talking about when he mentioned 3 periods of Speedmasters?

Pre-space -up to 1965
Pre-moon - 65-69
Post moon after the first moon landing

Anyone ever heard of the term 'pre-space' before?
Especially since Schirra's 2998 went into space in 1962.... (about which Omega launched a whole new watch to celebrate!)

No doubt a new-found dealer's term to sexy-up the Speedmaster story to appeal to wealthy Bankers.
🤬

(I think he should perhaps stick to antique clocks)

Both Wally Schirra (Oct 1962) and Gordo Cooper (May 1963) wore their personal Omega Speedmaster CK2998-4
Indeed "Pre-space" doesn't really apply... " Pre-Professional " dial would be more like it ! 😉
