    Good Morning

For a long time , I wanted a vintage Zenith Defy. Finally after some research, I found one in very good condition at a very very modest price on chrono 24. The vintage defy model is interesting for many reasons, it featured rubber shock absorber kinda like the certina ds series, the movement used in this line of watch was one of the best ever made the inhouse zenith 2562pc and 2572pc movements. The base model was water resistant to 300m in several cases avilable there were also 600m with crown located at 4 and 1000m crown located at 6 but those had also a rotating bezel and were rare. My choice was the ref 493877 which had a 28800 movement and which is inhouse. I also included pictures of french advertisements dedicated to this watch. I will post my pictures as soon as I receive the watch here are the seller pics.

    Have a good day

    Best regards

    Georges

Where did you find that reference number? It doesn't look like 1970 Zenith reference numbers. It doesn't even look like one of their serial numbers.
According to a few catalog sources that's an A3642

In fact Semper Vivens of Watchuseek reposnded me that the number 493877 inside the caseback is the patent number for the shock-absorbing rubber ring around the movement. https://forums.watchuseek.com/f27/another-zenith-comes-my-stable-1970-defy-ref-493877-a-4887207.html
