Hi all

Recently purchased a Speedy Pro to add to my PO 8500.

I'm having Cordura strap envy. Just wondered what everyones preference was between The Apollo 13 'Snoopy'

https://www.swisswatchspares.com/pr...dmaster-20mm-cwz003436-black-deployment-strap

Or the Aston Martin Aqua Terra DB9

https://www.swisswatchspares.com/pr...a-terra-20mm-cwz004526-black-deployment-strap

Are boutiques or AD still the cheapest options, in the UK at least?
TIA

Andy
Should say its currently on a leather Aqua Terra 20-18. I didn't like the 20-16 strap it came on. Too thin at the clasp.

For that price, I'd be picking up a few from watchgecko or similar, maybe try a few colours - assuming they have the same tapers.

If you want to go OEM, I'd opt for the DB9 one personally, I prefer the black on black over white stitching.

Can't help you on where to buy though!

Buy it from the OEM supplier and save 20% or so - no Omega branding or clasps, but you'd have to buy the latter separately anyway.

https://www.jean-rousseau.com/product-category/watch-straps/watch-strap-leather-classic/

Jean Rousseau are the original supplier to Omega for Cordura straps, like the Silver Snoopy strap (added that for SEO as it's available elsewhere on the forum, but may not have shown up in the search you did)

Thanks for that. I'll have a look at them.

Yeah, I was leaning towards the DB9 for precisely that reason. I'll have a look at Watchgecko. Thank you.

eBay has a seller who sells brand new Omega straps regularly. He's in the UK. PM me if you'd like more information.

JR is basically charging the same price as Omega for the cordura strap. You’ll save quite a bit though if you go with their deployant vs an Omega deployant. I think the upcharge was a JR clasp was like $40 vs an Omega which was close to $250.

I've had a quote from an AD and both straps are £225. The clasp is a similar price. I've had a quote off JR and its £180. Its a saving but still a significant outlay.

JR's strap can be customized though, while Omega's cant. And, the JR straps are available with regular tang buckles, not just deployant clasps. Omega's straps are deployant-only, and don't come with any clasp at all.

I'm (eagerly) awaiting my third custom JR strap, and believe me when I say they're worth every penny....

I get why you may want to stay with an OE strap, but I personally don't see the value. I recently bought a very nice German made suede strap for my Seamaster from Holben's here in the colonies, for about $40 US. I've bought a few others from other vendors, didn't care for them, but even with all of the duds, I'm still far below what I would have paid for an official Omega strap.

They do look good quality. I’m probably going with them I have sent a request and just need to sort the details.

Absolutely mate. I like loads of straps at different price points. The speedy looks good on most things.

I went for the Jean Rousseau option. Able to specify colour and specifics. And I sold the original strap for more than this cost. I managed to get the clasp second hand on an Aqua Terra from a watch seller.
I will probably buy other cheaper options in the future but at the moment I'm happy with the purchase.

Thanks for everyones replies on this. 👍

That looks great 👍
Thank you. The problem with the OEM ones is compromising on the stitching colour. There might be an option for Cordura with black stitching from Omega but why not specify exactly what you want and save money. Of course I could have gone standard buckle rather than deployment and saved even more. I'm happy though. 😀😉

Agreed. I haven't bought a JR one yet but been to their shop a few times. Definitely on the list in the future.
