Oddly the seller describes this as 18K rose gold, which is unusual, as every other SMPP known to exist is 14K yellow gold (OJ metal code)

No shot of the inside of the caseback? Guess they don't know how important that is.

    Way ahead of you ;)

Already messages him asking for that... I find the likelihood of it being rose gold or 14K rather slim

Of course these 46,48,49 cases can be a little bit crisper (regardless whether G or GC).

That ebay watch actually looks like it has a rose gold hue.

Yea but so did my Constellation when I got it, more rose gold than that even, until I wiped it down with a jeweller's polishing cloth. The dial is definitely yellow gold too.

This is a recently polished case though so no tarnish issue here. Look at the back - the fact there is not much devation in hue between the movement and the case suggests it is rose gold and not yellow.
There is precedent for omega using rose gold cases with yellow hued dials - the centenary comes to mind where most of the rose gold versions had yellow gold dials. It is much harder to locate a centenary with a pink gold hued dial to go with a pink gold case.
And if that wasn't enough, omega also made 14k rose gold cases!

Yea, but then there's the fact that all of these had 14K YG cases, there's not one known example in anything other than 14K YG yet, and being Mexico location, it fits that its the same batch my 2849 and the others came from. The caseback photo will tell, but its also a bit weird that he took photos of everything but that. Also what's the crown on this one? Looks like the Omega symbol is engraved into it or something which is a bit different from the others

Agreed, many questions will be answered by the inner caseback photo. If it is not 14k I agree most likely a put together.
Have to say Ash, your radar is programmed to sniff these watches out!

Mmm I know where most of them are at present, that first stepped date at three Desmond wrote about is the one eluding me, think it entered the witness protection program or something, might be on a beach in Boca.

That really is a nice looking watch Steve. I bet everytime you have that one in hand you think to yourself it is money well spent. Ditto the manual wind and the 2998 et al...

As days go by, we begin to discover more and more Omega 'factories' outside of Bienne Switzerland, working hard to manufacture highly desirable watches to satisfy enthusiasts' demand.

Getting an authentic factory-original collectible Omega, whether sports or dress, is as rare as a hen's teeth, nowadays.

    Thank-you.

Some Padawans listen to the Jedi Master, just as they in turn listened to the Obimaddoxs that went before.

I got to see that dial in person, years ago. I think it's closer to Oz than you think. IIRC, it was the property of a US West Coast collector.

I'm curious about those hallmarks on the case back. Doesn't look Swiss. Not sure what to make of them.
