·Yes, you access it through the front - or have your watchmaker do it. When you do that, take a picture of the serial number on the movement and the inside of the case back. The combination will make it possible to determine the year it was produced relatively precisely and if it’s the correct movement.
That being said, I assume some members here would know the ref (and therefore the time span the watch was built in) of the top of their heads. 😀

The back of the case should have the ref # on it. Looks like it might be a 166.026 (?), which would indicate a 564 or 565 caliber inside. Most of those are late 60's vintage.

·I have a couple of these, similar vintage. They look good and of course run well. I find Davidt’s value estimate a little low for Cosmics in good condition. There is a small following.

Agreed, I chased a few of the steel Seamaster Cosmics on fleabay for awhile before I found one that checked all of my boxes at a price that fit my budget. The steel C-case Seamaster Cosmics with an Omega steel bracelet can go for $600-$700. The steel C-case Seamaster Cosmics with a leather band are probably closer to the $400-$500 on eBay.
I picked up a 166.026 from Ebay earlier this year and it keeps great time with a 30+ hour reserve. Not bad for 50 year old time piece!

·I assumed the buckle and strap were fake (I'm not up to speed on modern straps etc).
If the box, strap and buckle are genuine then this will certainly increase the value of the package.
I maintain that head only, a gold plated Seamaster Cosmic isn't selling for significantly more than £250 in a private as-is sale, which is how things are usually priced here.
Unless things have moved significantly, I don't see $400-500 being the mean auction price for these head only in steel either but perhaps I'm basing it on 2019 pricing.

Also depends on where the watch is being sold. In Northern Europe a head only gold plated SM Cosmic is a 400-450 dollar watch any day.
