I wonder why people bid on such watches missing vital information ..... Is it gambling instinct ?

I suspect it's due to enthusiasm and lack of specialist knowledge.

For example, I am helping a work colleague who is trying to find a vintage Speedmaster. When he looks at them he has no real idea whether all the bits are original & isn't completely sure how important it is to him that, for example, the bezel is correct, as opposed to a correct but slightly damaged bezel.

Well I have no idea what's wrong with it - but then I don't want it anyway.

Easiest giveaway is "stubbies". They are the continuation lines behind the hour markers and are only ever found on fake dials.

Please clarify, for my education is the whole watch a fake, or are there any origional parts?

Should we report this thing to eBay so some poor soul doesn't fall for it?

I reported it too. Since he'd added a comment that only the movement was definitely correct and the rest he wasn't saying, it contravened eBay rules anyway.
