Congrats! This model is a satisfying chunk of steel. It’s hard to find one in good condition like this.

Thanks, I have never seen one like this as well. Even Zen from the French forumamontres forrm congratulated me on my purchase and also confirmed me that it was quite a rare watch

You inspired me to dig mine out! The lobster bracelet clasp is stamped 3475, which I interpret to mean manufactured in the 34th week (17-23 August) of 1975. The crown is the NATO-style star which I associate with the late ‘60s and early ‘70s. I can’t quite make out the number on your clasp... maybe 3975?

Any Zenith gurus know how the watch got that unusual name? Kinda like naming it the "ventilator."

As I recall, the name “respirator” refers to how the watch case naturally compresses under pressure, increasing its water resistance.

Nothing like seeing the old jems like respirators pop up from time to time. Next we will see people talking about turtles again. :)
