Another comparison thread... what would you choose?

My recent left or right thread left me thinking I had made my mind up with the Seamaster. I was all set to stick with the purchase of a new ceramic model. That was until I came across a couple of older stock, but brand new watches.

I hate asking for comparisons as it's all about individual taste, of course. However I feel it would be interesting to see the opinions of the Omega community as maybe some things will be raised that I haven't thought about.

The options are now:

1) Omega Seamaster Professional GMT... This is a watch I've briefly owned in the past, but had to sell to fund something else. I regretted it at the time as it's a great travel option, with a true GMT, good water resistance and I like how the bezel will fade over time.
2) Omega Planet Ocean 42mm 2500 Co-Ax... My favourite series of the PO. The current model is much taller and more cumbersome on my smallish wrist.
3) Omega Seamaster Professional Ceramic... The current best "value" Omega next to the Speedy Pro.

I like the PO but agree that they are to thick. The hands on the other 2 don't do it for me.

Personally I'd go for the GMT, I think it's undervalued and they're fairly rare. It's more interesting to me than the new ceramic versions and definitely more interesting than a black PO (which is about as close to a boring Sub as you can get with Omega).

All good watches, but I choose the PO above for the following reasons:

- interesting and clean dial
- great lume
- big easy to use crown
- progenitor of it's line

Ceramic looks too much like a toy

GMT is great but the dial is busy, plus the area around the crown guard is poorly designed. Add with a smallish crown it's pretty hard to screw down

The PO from the options above or if you like the wavy dial i would go for a 2254.50.
Agree with what the others said about the skeleton hands.

I personally prefer the ceramic with second choice being the PO. The GMT dive watch doesn't make sense to me, especially with the HE valve.

Thanks for the replies. I'm surprised the GMT isn't getting more love

If you're going to put it on the original bracelet, I'd say PO. If it's on the mesh, then I'd go GMT.

Because divers never travel? Uh...

HEV doesn't make sense on any dive watch, really. No one is gonna use it except for pro divers, and even then that's only for saturation diving.

But it adds to the "coolness" factor.

Versatility wise I would prefer the PO. I think it looks better with different straps and bracelets, and could potentially (following more modern trends) be dressed up and work with a suit. SMPc is not as versatile. However I prefer the SMPc on the wrist, and would choose this. Not a fan of the GMT, too busy/unbalanced IMHO.

2500d 42mm PO's are just now getting the notice they deserve. They are not thick and are by far the thinnest of the PO line. Black bezel white numbers is the way to go.

Plus look at it, it's a beautiful interpretation of the original... better then the 300mc in some ways.

Mark my words they are going to go up.

PO is the best looking dive watch omega makes, in my opinion. The only SMP's that really do it for me are the 2531 and the 2254. The ceramic is great but they are just too shiny for my taste.
