"Police in South Yorkshire said the driver was able to walk away with just cuts and bruises after the Ferrari 430 "went airborne and burst into flames" in South Yorkshire on Thursday."

That alone is impressive after seeing the pictures.

But in an update Friday, police said they "do not believe excess speed was a contributory factor in this collision."

Maybe the bomb planted by his bookie was...

Dropping your new Speedmaster IS painful... I know from experience.

Wrecking a brand new Ferrari, well that's just plain ridiculous.

Eh, it's not like it was new; the 430 has been out for over a decade now. It was likely just new to the owner, as you can't buy a new Ferrari without first buying one used.

It's a Ferrari, it's what they do. Google "Ferrari fire" and enjoy

Lambos are much better at this. Plenty of examples on YT, they put a pressure oil line right across the exhaust on the Gallardo (and R8 V10), doesn't always work out...

I think this practice started with the 458, since it was the first "regular" model in a while that truly created a splash with its design, and they kept production levels low - and in order to buy one I think you either must have a used Ferrari or have bought a California or something. Could have changed now with the 488, but I think there's still a long waiting list with some conditions for ownership
