My guess is that according to local laws you have a right to return for a refund if you do not like what you bought. Someone opens the lid and returns it? So theory is that the internals are utter crap.

Yes, locals can return it within 2 weeks and get full refund. Maybe I should buy it this time - just to check if there actually is anything inside it
