So I have been on the hunt for a couple of vintage speedies, and came across this one in a shop in SG. After looking at the movement and dial, clearly it's not for me, however would like to know what sort of event that can produce this sort of 'effect' on the dial and movement. Are those water spots? Is the movement developing rust? I haven't seen either properly This is what they call : vintage graded Cost SGD$5850
It is lol. I just didn't want to name the shop, but hey seems like they're notorious. I also inquired another speedy from another SG shop. there was only a dial and back shots and requested for a movement shot, 2 digits of the serial and caseback stamp. They told me it's original and would happily send me the email with the photos. 2 weeks later, no photos and i tried following up too :\ Edit: Added text.
Undesirable, and way overpriced. The Bezel though, looks like its turning blue on your second picture, or they've messed with the color grading.
No good. Bezel is a later replacement from the 90's, according to the serial the Speedy is a -78 or early 80's. In conjunction with the "vintage grade" of dial and movement, plus 5,8k asking, a big "Hahahahahaaa!". They either lie about this one or are idiots. Do not give them your money.
Just to be clear, I would never even consider this at the asking price. Just found it odd that the Bezel appears to turn blue in the second pic.
I would be hard pressed to buy this at almost any price due to the condition. Definitely evidence of moisture.
Thanks for the info Would defo remove their shop from my bookmarks. Wateringress / Moisture seems to be the correct term i am looking. Thanks for the tips!
