The watch is in solid gold (stamps, weight) and runs ... If you have any information, I would be very thankful!

Best,

Olivier

Sorry I can't bring helpful information fot you since I am novice too.
But I like the overall conditions (observatory logo still very sharp even if it is solid gold case, beautiful hands, French case apparently...) Seems it came cheap (traded with drawing?) So if it was mine I would look for a good redialer to have a redone dial consistently with watch ref (which one we will know when you get opened the watch head)...

But that was my 2 cents!

On the side note: hats off to the OP and @X350 XJR for their beautiful vintage cars, especially the convertible one 👍

You are right! The watch is in great condition. It was not worn much.
I bought it for 1800 Euros (and sold a drawing for close to that) and this sounds reasonable to me even if not fully original. It runs very well and is beautiful. I just love it!
Thanks for the idea of redialing!

I'm sorry to talk cars in an Omega forum... (I like cars and I draw cars! I bought the watch by selling a drawing...).

The XJR is just stunning: best four doors ever, in my view. Congrats!
What is the hotrod? Is that a V12?

Lots of car people here on the forum, with more that a few car specific threads.

Here's one: https://omegaforums.net/threads/friday-petrol-head-post.10705/

I actually find it pretty nice, as far as redials go.

Someone (on Facebook) said that some US models did not have the « Constellation » writing.
This is true. I own two of these. Here’s one:

You can read more about that here:

Another one said that the dial is repainted – but it looks very neat.
Also true, but that doesn’t make it desirable to collectors.

Also, why would someone decide to change the font and to remove the « constellation » writing?
Because the original dial was worn out, stained, yellowed, or any combination of a million other reasons.

Hope this helps,

that's a heck-of- an engraving... Jaguar Motoring Assoc?

😁😁

I would like! The engraving is from the previous owner. Probably a French with a "double" first-name like "Jean-Michel" or "Jean-Marc" that were very common in the 1960s...

Lol, I was the one who told him this but it seems like he didn't believe me at a time. 🙁

Just a follow up.

I gave the watch to my watch repair. He sent me pictures and comments.
Movement is a 505 – in very good shape.
The dial has been repainted, in a strange way, but very well.
The hands of the seconds is too long.

Overall, no bad news ;-)

I asked him to replace the second hand, the crown and the glass – to put the right stuff (shorter hand, decagonal crown, signed glass).

Thanks again for your input!
