This came up on German ebay this morning and already the price is rising quickly http://www.ebay.de/itm/161072900204Purchases made through these links may earn this site a commission from the eBay Partner Network
It sold for at least euro 7K which is about 9K$ (maybe more?) - still a good price on an original example, isn´t it?
nice; seller stated, it was found while clearing out an attic.....time to establish a new company for clearing attics.... kind regards. achim
If the seller had at least some sense it would have sold for significantly more - it was already at $8-9k USD with 4 days left.
I have just looked up the highest placed bid - so this must be at least the lowest possible selling price - was just a guess, but as Mike stated it probably sold for more. There have been lousy pictures, no movement shots - the buyer must have taken some risk - so probably he did not pay too much above the highest bid - just my 2 cents...
Mine is coming across a Zenith chronometer or early EP at a garage sale for $25. wife: "Hey, what should we do with my dad's old watch?" husband: "Do you plan on wearing it?" wife: "No, do you want to?" husband: "No! 3 jewelers told me it would cost $600 to fix!!! Then they told me it didn't run on a battery. Friggin' rip off artists." wife: "Well, the kids don't want it either. I guess we'll store it away." husband: "What do you want a watch from a TV maker for? It's just clutter and not really valuable like his corn cob pipe collection." wife: "You're right. Let's sell it at our next yard sale."
5 minute marks in the 3 o'clock subdial in the ebay watch longer than the dial in the 2915. The fonts are also different but a bit difficult to tell with clarity given the ebay picture.
