Simply an example of the wonderful cultural mix we have here where words can have developed different meanings once separated by thousands of miles.

Well if you paid $1200 for a pair of these links, that would be pretty gross.
Seriously, I used the term "grossly incorrect" as these are aftermarket knockoffs which can (not anymore I hope) be easily passed, for big bucks in added value, as the real thing.

It's a good find. I'm still waiting to land my legit 6 end links so good to know. Looking forward to future quizzes. Always humbling for me.

But then, please enlighten our days even more with some extra info on the original ones. I have studied these pics long enough (spouse away, so no 'what are you looking at' for me this time...:whipped:) to want to see the real thing compared to the knock-off.
Like it a lot though, should have this often (although killing for work-related stuff ::facepalm2:: )

Regarding these Speedies, regretably, many flaws were pointed out by the members. As a result neither watch is deemed suitable as prize material. :(

I am curious the crowns on each watch though. Ed #2 to my eyes has a much more course spline and seems to be shorter than Ed #1... Am I seeing things?

Beside your findings about the end links the central second of the left watch is still the wrong one :D:p

Me think the incorrect finish/brush on the lug tops othe second watch is more gross than the after market end links. ;)

You are not. They are different but both I believe (according to MWO) can be considered to be correct:

    image.jpg
ED WHITE ONE, Crown type B2, 32 teeth, wide, angular feet

    image.jpg
ED WHITE TWO, CROWN A1, 24 teeth, flat feet

Too funny. I would get such the eye roll if I mentioned to anyone I was having a discussion with a chap on the number of teeth and the foot design of a logo of a watch crown... Regardless of mfg or age. Thanks for that, you literally made my evening.

Hmm - I found the thread only now. I found something different grossly...
The upper side of the lugs on No 2 seem to be brushed (instead of polished as No 1).
