·Actually, one of the weirder ways that things came into Canada from the US is the pulling of warplanes over the border in WWII. The Neutrality Act barred the US from exporting “arms, ammunition, and implements of war”, so the planes were flown to the border where we went and pulled them to our side.

The article says they were WW1-type aircraft so I'm guessing they were biplanes not actual WW1 aircraft but there were very successful in their role biplanes used in WW2.
