This one was serviced by Omega.
It got service dial bezel and hands, luckily I also got the little bag of parts, that no one else who viewed the auction noticed.....

....and yes the dial and hands are re lumed but that’s why omega threw them out in the first place.

    Any more Omega serviced watches?

It probably looked a lot worse before the aforementioned relume

Aha. Saw it now. Still looks like a nice dial to me, so a surprise if Omega detected the relume and changed it because of that. Must have been because of non-glowing then?

Omega throws out the dial to the bag if they see it's been relumed? I had to send in my relumed 2998-5 due to a large lack of movement parts missing inside it that made it unfeasible for independent servicing, and I was told they are going to keep the same dial.

I think he meant he relumed the dial and hands after purchasing the watch, then reinstalled them. Chances are when it arrived at Omega's service center, the dial lume was a bit grubby

This was sent to Omega 2 years ago before I got it but thankfully they only replaced the hands and even left the browning dial alone

To clarify, I had the dial and hands re lumed as they were Algae. I do not have a before shot.
Always get too exited and impatient to take them.

Dial body itself is pretty good.

This is how it looked on arrival with service parts

    The relume looks outstanding.

    May I ask two questions:
    1) Who performed the work?; and,
    2) if you were in the market for an Ed White and this exact watch popped up for sale with relume noted by the seller, given how attractive the work is, would you pay more, less or the same as an average example of this reference?

They used the wrong crystal probably meant for a 105.002 or 2998

Bought this 145.012 back in 2014:

    OF1.jpg

Seller mentioned it was serviced at Omega in 1998 and that some of the old parts followed the watch back. Turned out he still had them:

After a new service and old parts attached (under all the gunk a near perfect bezel showed up):

Never got around to find better hour and minute hands, though....

It must suck to work for omega and ruin vintage watches for a living. Their after shot is painful. Great catch and restore !

Why would Omega replace that bezel? I thought they only replaced parts which were damaged.

Dial, I can understand they replaced because of the missing lume.

Previous owner told me that my Ed White was serviced by Omega - it came in an Omega service box, but had no documentation.... the case looks pristine, the hands are service ones (I had them retouched). The dial and bezel look original, although the lume plots have been washed off - apparently they were muddy, and the guy wanted to keep the original dial, but have it looking ‘cleaner’. What’s left of the plots are actually a sort of creamy color, so I don’t think it looks that bad, but I have considered getting it re-lumed.

Wow...that case! That's one amazing condition.

I relumed my 2998-5 because the lume was pretty much all gone. I don't regret it.
