I hope fellow forum users dont mind the deliberate ommision of the word "Hamilton" from the title of this thread...but I thought this tactic might help raise the number of people reading it!

Anyway, those who read my first post here - http://omegaforums.net/threads/the-great-big-introductions-thread.20/page-18#post-24587 - will see that I also purchased a Hamilton 43mm Jazzmaster Slim (H38615255) and for the last month or so, have been eagerly awaiting it's arrival from Valencia.

Anyway...yesterday was that day and although i'm not allowed to wear this one until my fiancee' officially gifts it to me on our wedding day in May 2013...i'm still really happy with it. (If you read the post above, I'd like to award even more appreciation to the Rabat store and the outstanding service. Vincent is your man if you're ever in the neighbourhood a genuinely top, top bloke.)

    (Apologies for the iPhone pics)

So what's the "history" with Hamilton and the users of this forum? I bought this watch purely based on it's simplicity as a formal watch and I loved the strap, so dont worry...I have no affinity with the brand...i'm just curious as to the origins of the good natured banter there is towards Hamilton owners.
And yeah...marginally larger than my SMP 300M, but obviously one metric tonne lighter...so it's a strange one on the wrist...will take some gettting used to!

    Well:
    - they are American;
    - kyle likes them
    - they are American

I think that is sufficient reason

    Add to the list
    - They have numerous models
    - They are very available
    - They are relatively cheap
    - Kyle likes them

Sadly it's an enforced not wearing of the watch...i'd be all over it if it was left in my possession!

Ha ha...cheers for the quick education on the Hamilton banter......I do like some of their older pieces...but think the next purchase has to be a vintage Omega.

Might sound surprising, but this watch was seriously difficult to source in the UK. (One Hamilton dealer took a week to come back to me to inform me there were only two left in the whole UK, and subsequently doubled the price!! ) Captive audience or truth I dunno...?

It started with a few jabs about which brand made better looking watches.

    http://www.watchtalkforums.info/forums/general-discussion-forum/51789.htm

From there we had a few threads escalating the jabs, although it was still all in fun. Then went to a vote that was closer than a Bush election.

    http://www.watchtalkforums.info/forums/general-discussion-forum/51789.htm

The loser had to have the winning watch's picture as their forum masthead picture for a month. I have a screen shot of it somewhere as proof.

ps - that was my 2799.

Yes it was a terrible ruckus. It was sort of like the battle for Middle Earth, with the Hamilton owners of course being the Orcs. :D

I've just noticed, Kyle has been mysteriously absent from this thread
