My pockets aren't deep enough - but we can all dream about a great instant collection comprising a 2998-2 (Lot 269), 2915-3 (Lot 271), 2914-4 FAP Flightmaster (Lot 272), and a beautiful 2915-1 (Lot 273). http://www.christies.com/zmags/?Zma...mportant+Watches&SaleId=24713&GUID=&JumptoLot=

There are also some questionable Rolex examples in here as well. Dat albino 6204?.......only one to ever come up at auction? I wonder why...
So you fork out $XYZ on a super rare watch, pay your 20% buyers premium and is there any guarantee from Christies that what you are buying is kosher? (I feel there must be some fine print involved).
Wow there really are some amazing pieces in that auction but the prices of some of them are truly insane IMHO and I really do find it hard to understand why some of them command such premiums but I suppose like most things in life if that's what someone is willing to pay then that must be what its worth. Personally I'm sure I could find better ways to spend the money. Marc
I think the people willing to pay those prices are people who have the money, but not the time to search elsewhere for cheaper alternatives. They are willing to pay a premium to get the item they want straight away from a reputable dealer. I like to compare it to the way some people get the music they want online: generally, when you're younger you don't have much money, but lots of free time, so you're willing to spend time searching for free, illegal, pirated tracks. When you're older, you have the money, but less time, so you're willing to pay to get what you want straight away without all the hassle, risk of viruses etc. Yes, I somehow just compared the slow route of collecting watches to the illegal practice of pirating music, but you know what I mean
