Amazed by the value of the Master Collection

I’m pretty unfamiliar with Longines, but a friend picked up what looked like a really complicated piece a few months ago - moon phase, triple calendar, chronograph - for only around AU$4-5k. I think it’s from the Master Collection.

I was amazed at how affordable it was for something with that many complications. It got me interested.

The Master Collection Moonphase Retrograde in 41mm is one of those that has been on the back of my mind for quite a while! Never opted to pick one up, but always amazed by the complications in it.

IMO, Longines is a very competitive brand that is doing interesting things these days.

Yeah, the friend who bought it was very proud about it and told me how he got it for only $4k-5k (AU). Granted that's still a lot of money for most people but I can't see from the big traditionally Swiss brands anything that approaches this price for something so complicated, so I duly agreed that he got a great deal and picked up a watch that will last a lifetime and be passed to the next generation.
