Dear respected members and readers, Merry Christmas to you all and your family! I'm new to this forum. I saw some of the fake omega cases here and I'm now afraid. I got a question about these constellation watches I've recently bought for gift. I just noticed that these constellation bearing the same (?) dog legged lugs and same movement cal 551, but strangely, different caseback. Then I've checked the Desmond article but I'm still a bit lost, These are the pictures that I have from the seller. Are these legit or fake? Thanks for the help in advance and I really appreciate any inputs you've posted here. Thank you, Regards Jev
You like living dangerously!. Purchasing not one, but two piepans without being sure is a gamble. The second one has (I think) the wrong crown, but otherwise from these pics the case and dials look OK. Better in focus pics of the dial texts (straight from the front) would be needed to be able to see and tell you more. Hey, the goddess Fortune favours the bold (sometimes).
Thank you for your inputs, fjf! Yeah.... Most of the time I live for the thrill . The thing is their casebacks are different apart from the crown on the second watch (as I knew that the crown made specifically for that case is discontinued and replaced with more standard knurled crown like the one found on 168.029) . Are those legit caseback/legit case though? as I'm pretty confident about the dial in the second watch, though the first one with cal. 551 did mention officially certified which is right or wrong? ... And about the facet under the bezel mentioned in Desmond article, I'm still confused about that as seems from the picture they both seems have a different bezel as well... Or they're different watch with quite a bit same 551 pie pan dial? Thanks Jev
The dog leg Connie does have a rather prominent fake........... Any movement shots. ( Find it odd on the first one, the smudge on the main part of the dial we want to see. Watch Is dirty but.... ) @Peemacgee might cast a eye over after his Christmas dinner
I'm sorry that I couldn't comply with that as both watches are not arrived yet, but I will update ASAP when I got it in hand... But, so, it's still impossible to identify whether or not it's a fake from the case only? Thank you!
I would post it soon as the watches arrived in my possession. But, are there any instance that the pie pan 551 dial differs and those was specifically made for a certain case reference? Like the first one bearing OFFICIALLY CERTIFIED name for the "domed" caseback while the other one without have the more "flat" caseback? Thanks for the replies!
Hi Thatguy, To answer your query, IMHO I would say they look legit to me. I don't observe any sign of fake from the cases and dials. With different case reference, caseback may have variant. Same applies to dials, which may vary with different ref. and production time. Both dials look original as well. Of course, when you have the watches arrived and casebacks opened, we can be more confident on their legitimacy. Merry Christmas and good luck!
Well I’ve had my Christmas dinner but that also means a few glasses of French red.... The first one looks fine as does the second dial but I’m puzzled by the lugs on the second one. Might be the angle but the chamfers on the underside of the lugs (and the junction either case) don’t look correct. A straight side on shot of the the second will help when you get them.
Both legit. First one is 167.005, second one is 14900. Different lug shapes likely due to different case makers: first one HF or SGR, second one probably CB. Very nice gifts! Merry Christmas!
Pricing is right for me though, it's like 1,840 USD total, like 920 bucks for each... How am I doing? Hehe
W Whohooo! Santa comes in the right time! Thank you so much sir to make my confusion cleared up... Thanks!
Hohoho, you've been especially nice this year, so... BTW: It could be a mix within those numbers and letters mentioned, but still legit and nice watches.
Calling @Peemacgee Finally the second one came in along with a friend... Thanks guys... Tomorrow I'll try to open the watches myself and then I'll post some of the pictures again here... Best Jev
