The main issue lies with managing expectations. Sites such as the Seamaster 300 one has a number of errors, but seems to be pretty confident in acting like the gospel on that particular model and Omegas own database has numerous errors or ommisions and is, because it is Omegas own archive, held in high regard with newcomers who aren't aware of the details.
I don't think a vintage database should be too all-encompassing such as defining which crowns are correct for particular models and such, but generic information such as approximate years of production, movement types, etc should be available. If anyone has models with extracts available, a more in-depth entry with serial numbers (or just partial ones for the neurotic types) and such could be made. No speculation, no 100% adamant statements. Just dull facts and decent photos.
